Starting today, the advertisers who are using Google AdWords
will have the opportunity to buy and display their ads on the iPhone, the
T-Mobile G1, and other mobile devices with full (HTML) Internet browsers.
As Alexandra Kenin, Product
Marketing Manager, Mobile Ads team explained on Google Mobile Blog the
ads can point to desktop landing pages so you don't need to create mobile
landing pages or ads in mobile formats.
“The ads will have many of the same benefits as our standard
mobile ads, such as the delivery of mobile-specific calls-to-action and
reaching mobile users that are searching with their phones more than ever -
especially during the holiday season”, she added.
For the time being, mobile advertising is not a big
business, but Google certainly understands that mobile Internet usage will
skyrocket over the next few years.
Also, despite being a competitor with the iPhone, through
its Android platform, Google has developed iPhone versions of its services.
For example, last month Google has launched Google Mobile
App for iPhone, which enables users to conduct Web searches using voice
requests.
The iPhone seems like a great gateway to a carefully
selected group of people, ads that are targeting iPhone users.
Imagine that when surfing the net from a mobile phone, one must be on the move.
Wouldn’t it be great if the ads you encounter on the net will be targeted
especially at you?
These ads could link you to sites specialized in selling plane or train
tickets, or to shops that sell exactly the accessory you’ve wanted for your
precious iPhone. Wouldn’t it be great?
