Now you have it, now you don’t! I am probably one of the lucky ones who managed to check their Gmail accounts, only to see than half an hour later, it was just dead. I’m still trying to access Google’s Gmail Blog for updates on the situation, but I’m guessing so is everybody else, and so I’m not surprised this one isn’t working either.
But leaving that blog aside, the real issue here are Gmail not working and users getting frustrated. Here is what a Google spokesperson had to say:
A number of users are having difficulty accessing Gmail. We’re working to resolve the problem now. We know how important Gmail is to our users so we take this issue very seriously and we apologize for the inconvenience.
In a Google posting, a company representative also promised that they will come up with a solution as soon as possible. The representative also said the problem is affecting only a small number of users, and that an update will be made by 6:30 a.m. PST today.
In the meantime, people kept Twittering about it, and continued to speculate on the real number of users that have been affected by the outage. While Google is still working on a solution, the only thing we can do is wait patiently.
Update: My Gmail account is working again…the only problem is that it came back with a complementary color choice from Google, but hey, I like red Burgundy.
