On Monday, Gmail announced a new feature for the popular webmail service through its official blog and it is called Tasks. Tasks is a basic to-do list and it follows Gmail’s tradition to be simple and efficient. You can enable the feature through the “Labs” tab in Settings.
Tasks makes it easy for users to input to-dos as they only have to click on an empty part of the list, type the reminders and hit “return” and then the task is automatically saved. The Task feature also enables users to mark the to-dos done, assign them due dates, reorder them, create new lists and even stack the window on your desktop. Converting emails into tasks is always one click away, too.
Gmail users have always stated that they miss a reminder feature embedded in their email service, so Gmail Lab’s release of this new feature was acclaimed. Yet, the Lab’s didn’t rest on their laurels as they invited users to post comments and suggestions on their blog. After the initial hype, it looks like some of the users don’t like simple to be so simple and sought-after additional features of the applet, such as integration into Google Calendar or the possibility of setting priorities to each action.
All in all, everybody seems to be happy that Gmail is getting better every day. And it should be noted that there are tons of applets or customization plug-ins besides the to-do list. This almost guarantees that everyone can have Gmail in their own way.
