Gmail is the e-mail service provided by Google, which has been in a continuous beta status since it began being available to the general public in 2007. Since then, Gmail has been experimented continuously with ways of making the mail service better and, especially, faster.
Gmail has started a revolution in e-mail services by increasing the bar on how much storage can a regular user benefit from. Currently a regular user, who uses the service free of charge, can use up to 7200 MB of storage space while paying customers can access 10 GB to 400 GB of memory. Gmail keeps reinventing itself and, recently, the service has included the use of gadgets on the Gmail page.
Google has responded to the people’s need to access Google Calendar easier by integrating this gadget in their Gmail pages. Users don’t need to open a new tab anymore to view the calendar, which acts like an online agenda, but access the feature through their Gmail accounts. Another exciting feature Gmail users can start enjoying is the ability to open recently used documents directly from the Gmail browser tab. Gmail users can enable the new features by going to Settings/Labs and activate them. Gmail users now have a very functional inbox which allows them more freedom and functionality.
The reason for which Gmail is so popular, having over 100 million users, is because it just keeps evolving, testing, making users feel they’ve made the right choice by choosing this specific service. Only last month Google Labs provided Gmail with emoticons, canned responses, contacts improvements, advanced IMAP controls, Mail Goggles and now integrated Google Calendar and other gadgets.
