The latest studies completed on global warming point out that the phenomenon is moving at a much faster pace than it was previously announced and that the predicted outcomes will occur a lot sooner, affecting everyone. Even though this has been a highly debated matter over the past 20 years, the efforts made to this day have been far from sufficient and scientists are looking to get as many people involved in order to find a solution.
During the annual meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, Christopher Field, who is the founding director of the Carnegie Institution's Department of Global Ecology at Stanford University, stated that "We are basically looking now at a future climate that's beyond anything we've considered seriously in climate model simulations."
The main reason for this turn of events is the increased industrial greenhouse gas emissions, which have significantly outpaced the estimates. The changes registered all across the planet point out that the matter is indeed reaching a critical state, with high rates of drought, intense storms, and the extremely dangerous rising sea levels.
Another significant danger is the global warming’s power to reduce the ocean's ability to store carbon by altering the wind patterns. Scientists reported that the Southern Ocean is showing changing winds and CO2 water levels, which represent just a glimpse of things to come.
There have been several projects introduced, all designed to put a hold on the effects of global warming, but in order to make a difference everyone must understand the risks and work together.
