After nearly two years of dating, football star Tom Brady and supermodel Gisele Bundchen decided to make it official.
The benched New England Patriots quarterback asked the 28-year-old Brazilian model to marry him during a flight on their private jet on Christmas Eve, TMZ.com and E! News reported on Friday.
With four dozen white roses and bottles of champagne offering the perfect atmosphere for a romantic proposal, 31-year-old Tom Brady popped the question just after the jet took off from Teterboro Airport in New Jersey. The couple was heading for Boston and was accompanied by the bride-to-be’s parents, according to the celebrity Web sites that first reported the news.
Tom Brady and Gisele Bundchen have both drawn attention throughout the past years with their headline-hitting previous relationships and break-ups.
The model dated for several years actor Leonardo DiCaprio, with whom she had a troubled on-and-off relationship, but the two split for good just in 2005.
Tom Brady dated actress Bridget Moynahan from 2004 until late 2006, in spite of the fact that Moynahan was pregnant. The football star started his relationship with Gisele Bundchen soon after breaking up from his ex but nevertheless was present when his first child, John Edward Thomas Moynahan, was born on August 22, 2007 at Saint John’s Health Center in Santa Monica.
Star magazine reported last week that the couple intended to tie the knot in Costa Rica, but Tom Brady and Gisele Bundchen did not confirm the news.
