Girlfriend Walks out on Cop Suspected in His Wife’s Disappearance Case

Friday, a woman who had become engaged to a former suburban Chicago police sergeant who is suspected in his wife’s disappearance case walked out on her partner and moved out of his home, after the man talked about his former and then-current relationship on a national television show one day before.

Christina Raines, 24, packed her bags and left Drew Peterson's home while her father was there watching, along with a television camera crew and officers from Peterson's former department, according to a statement by Bolingbrook police spokesman Lt. Ken Teppel.

Drew Peterson, aged 55, is still a suspect in the October 2007 disappearance of his fourth wife, Stacy Peterson and even though he has not been charged, the authorities have stated that they were investigating the disappearance as a possible homicide.

Peterson has denied the allegations and said that he had had nothing to do with his wife’s disappearance, claiming that he believed she had left him for another man.

Although the man refused to comment on his fiancee’s reasons for having walked out on him, Glenn Selig, Peterson’s publicist, said that the event was related to the latter’s appearance on ABC’s „Nightline” show on Thursday.

During the TV broadcast, Peterson said that he had treated Raines the way she had never before been treated and only hours later, the woman, alongside her father a TV crew were at Peterson’s home, where she packed all her belongings and then left.

Friday morning, Raines’ father Ernest called the police because Peterson refused to allow him to enter his property or let the crew with the cameras in his home.

Currently, authorities are also looking into the death of Peterson’s third wife Kathleen Savio, whose body was found in an empty bathtub in her house in 2004 and whose case the police declared at that time an accident. Nevertheless, following the disappearance of Stacy Peterson, authorities exhumed Savio’s body and her death was reclassified as a homicide after an autopsy was performed.
