Casey Knowles was surprised to see herself on television
lately, featuring in a Clinton campaign ad.
It seems that stock footage of Casey, shot when she was
working as an extra in TV commercials at the age of 8, was used in Mrs.
Clinton’s “red phone” ad, which asked “Who do you want answering the phone at 3
a.m.?” referring to a potential foreign policy crisis.
Casey told ABC news how she and her brother discovered she
appeared in the Clinton ad.
Apparently, they were watching “The Daily Show,” where the
ad was made fun of, so it was replayed several times, until Casey’s brother
noticed the little girl’s face was familiar.
"They were parodying this ad, kind of poking fun at it.
They were replaying it. We paused it. My brother was like, 'Is that Casey?' And
we just erupted," Knowles said on "Good Morning America Weekend
Edition" today. "Sure enough, it's me."
Clinton’s ad, in which the 8-year-old girl is sound asleep,
wants to emphasize her experience in foreign policy. The ad wanted to question:
if there was a case of national security emergency, who would people want to
answer the phone?
But the ad girl, who has now turned 18 and therefore, will
be able to vote in the general election, is actually a passionate supporter of
Senator Obama’s, and said she was willing to feature in an Obama campaign ad,
that would oppose Clinton’s.
“I think it would be wonderful if Barack Obama and I could
get together and do a counter-ad,” she told CNN Saturday.
Casey said she didn’t like the ad, as she found it
fear-mongering, while she appreciated Obama’s message.
"What I don't like about the ad is it's fear-mongering.
I think it's a cheap hit to take. I really prefer Obama's message of looking
forward to a bright future," Knowles told ABC News. "I think that's a
much stronger message."
