According to Entertainment Weekly, the movie had an estimated $39.2 million in ticket sales. It was better than “The Love Guru,” which was on the fourth place with $14 million. “The Incredible Hulk” came third with $21.6 million and “Kung Fu Panda” came second with an estimated $21.7 million.

Steve Carell, Anne Hathaway and Dwayne Johnson, the stars from “Get Smart” can congratulate themselves for their good work, as the movie, which was adapted from a television show, is now the second no. 1 movie after “Sex and the City” and, also, the second in the 2008 live-action comedy battle, Entertainment Weekly reported.

Carrell plays the part of an analyst for the US intelligence agency CONTROL. He desires a more active part and wants to leave his indoor job and go outside, where all the action happens.

On the second place, “Kung Fu Panda” declined a 35%, this being its third weekend, and had a total win of $155.6 million. “The Incredible Hulk” dropped 61% with a total win of $96.5 million and “The Love Guru” disappointed big-time and became the second major flop of the summer. Let’s hope Mike Myers gets smart and learns from this mistake.

“Get smart” had an $80 million budget and was directed by Peter Segal, who also directed “50 First Dates,” the “Nutty Professor II: The Klumps,” “Anger Management” and “The Longest Yard.”
