According to a research conducted by the National Oceanic
and Atmospheric Administration, the weather events are very likely to worsen
over the next few years as a result of the brutal climate changes. Apparently,
the droughts, the storms and the floods will offer a brand new experience for
everyone thinking that they might have seen them all.
One of the conclusions reached by the scientists regards the
rainfall amounts awaited every 20 years which will now take place every 5
years. This will surely lead to significantly more problems with floods and
inundations. On a similar note, an extremely hot day, normally occurring every
20 years, will be experienced every three years.
At the other end of the warning list, the droughts will last
much longer and the warmer weather will cause massive evaporations, destroying
the soils.
Besides from the individual level in the area of each
phenomenon, the impact will also be felt on a national level through the
economy setback caused by the problems in agriculture and ecosystems.
The on-going
campaigns warning people about the dangers of global warming have been more and
more aggressive since their start back in the 1980s but the efforts didn’t
manage to reach their goal completely. Such new reports should not come as a
surprise for anyone as numerous scenarios have been presented by many
scientists over the years, in their attempts to sound the alarm on the
unavoidable repercussions of our everyday activities.
"Changes in some weather and climate extremes are
attributable to human-induced emissions of greenhouse gases," the authors
concluded in their study, which was considered a priority after the many rather
unusual weather events such as the extreme number of tornadoes and powerful
hurricanes, huge amounts of precipitations, unbarring heat and unusually high
winter temperatures.
