Dermot Mulroney, who starred alongside Lindsay Lohan and Jane Fonda in this summer’s "Georgia Rule," filed for divorce from his wife, "40-Year-Old Virgin" actress Catherine Keener, after 17 years of marriage.
The 43-year-old actor cited "irreconcilable differences" in the court documents he filed on June 8 in Los Angels Superior Court.
The two met on the set of "Survival Quest" in 1987, and tied the knot three years later. In May 2005, the couple who have a 7-year-old son together, Clyde, separated. In his court filling, Mulroney also asked joint legal and physical custody of their son.
Catherine Keener, who has been nominated twice for a Best Supporting Actress Oscar, first in 2000 for "Being John Malkovich" and again in 2006 for her turn as Harper Lee in "Capote," stars in the upcoming big-screen adaptation of Jon Krakauer's "Into the Wild," directed by Sean Penn, as well as "Where the Wild Things Are," based on Maurice Sendak's classic children's story by the same name, E!Online reports.
Besides "Georgia Rule," Dermot Mulroney can be seen this summer in the indie pic "Gracie," starring Elisabeth Shue.
The two can be seen acting together in 2001’s "Lovely and Amazing."
