President George W. Bush will reportedly hold his last official press conference as the United States President at 9:15 a.m. EDT/1415 GMT on Monday, the White House announced.
President Bush will take questions from reporters held in the final days of his administration. The United States newly-elected President, Barack Obama, will take office on January 20 to become the nation’s 44th president.
"The president will make a brief opening statement, commenting on the important role the White House press corps has in covering presidents and the White House," White House spokeswoman Dana Perino said.
President Bush will leave office exactly at midday Jan. 20, when President-elect Barack Obama becomes President and moves into the Executive Mansion.
The White House did not disclose what President Bush will say in his address. The last time President Bush took questions from reporters in a press conference was on December 14 in Baghdad, when an Iraqi journalist entered history by throwing his shows at the U.S. President, who was holding a press conference with Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki.
Although it has not been revealed the content of Bush’s address, White House spokeswoman Dana Perino said that nothing has changed since Friday when she issued a statement saying the Bush administration and the transition team discussed on how to proceed in case Obama would like Bush to notify the Congress on his behalf of his plans to use the remaining $350 billion so that it will be available early in the new Administration.
