George Michael is in the mood for concerts and he plans to
take the U. S. and Canada by storm, with a multi-city tour that
will be his first in North America in 17 years.
It’s been a while but British singer George Michael is going
back to North America to enchant his fans.
Michael announced Monday the multi-city “25 Live” tour would open in San Diego on June 17 and wrap in Sunrise,
Fla., on Aug.
3.
The 44-year-old singer will also perform in Atlanta,
Las Vegas, Phoenix,
Los Angeles, Seattle,
Chicago, Dallas, Houston, New York, Boston, Toronto and Montreal. Tickets for the “25
Live” tour go on sale to the general public on April 6.
The upcoming tour is in support of Michael’s new record, titled
“Twenty-Five.” With an April 1 release date, the 2-CD set features 29 songs,
several of them new (including duets with superstars Paul McCartney and Mary J.
Blige and a song from the television series “Eli Stone”), his official website
informs.
The record also features some of Michael’s best known songs,
from both his solo and Wham! career. In addition, a companion 2-disc DVD of 40
videos will also be made available.
His website also promises fans “an innovative media package”
offered through iTunes and Ticketmaster which allows rare access to Michael’s
videos, songs, and tickets to one of his North American 25 Live concerts. The
package goes on sale on iTunes on March 25.
The British musician began his pop career as a member of ‘80s
group Wham! and then embarked on a successful solo career.
Over the past year, Michael performed in 12 countries during
the European leg of his “25 Live” tour, for over 1.3 million fans during 80
shows, according to his website.
His American fans can also look forward to Michael’s American
acting debut, as he makes a guest appearance on an episode of ABC series “Eli
Stone” on March 27. Each episode is titled after one of his songs.
