Hollywood actor George Clooney and his new girlfriend Sarah Larson were injured in a motorcycle crash in New Jersey on Friday.
They were rushed to the Palisades Medical Center, across the Hudson River from Manhattan, treated and released. Clooney, 46, suffered a fractured rib while Larson, 28, had her foot broken, after the two got knocked off Clooney’s motorcycle, his spokesman Stan Rosenfield said.
"He was treated for a hairline fracture of a rib and road rash," he said. "He's doing fine," Rosenfield added, saying " it's very painful and it'll take a long time to heal."
According to local police, the accident occurred at 3:30 p.m.. The actor and his passenger were traveling north and sped up to pass on the right of a 1999 Mazda Millenia that signaled a left-hand turn but turned right instead and hit Clooney’s motorcycle, said Rosenfield said. Both were wearing helmets.
"The car signaled left. George was riding to the right. The driver decided to make an abrupt right turn and clipped George," he said.
The Mazda driver, 27-year-old Albert Sciancaledore, told police that Clooney was the one hastily passing cars in the right lane, while the actor said that the other driver sped up to pass him to make the turn, E!Online reported.
"It's a he-said, she-said right now, but you can't pass on the right in Weehawkin or anywhere in Jersey," police said. The incident will remain under investigation while no summonses have been issued.
Sarah Larson and George Cloone met in June in Las Vegas at the premier
of Clooney’s movie, Ocean's Thirteen. George Clooney was seen with Sarah Larson
at the Venice Film Festival, earlier this month.
According to Clooney’s spokesman, Stan Rosenfield, they were
both released from the hospital and a friend drove them back to Manhattan. Clooney is
currently shooting Burn after Reading
and his spokesman said he plans to attend at Monday’s premiere of Michael
Clayton, his latest movie.
