Let’s hope those scrubs still fit George Clooney, who despite his rep’s denial, will be returning to the series that made him famous for its final episode.
According to reports Clooney is back on the set of NBC’s long-running medical drama “ER” preparing to make a cameo appearance in the final episode of the series.
While the network hasn’t yet confirmed nor denied the reports, Entertainment Tonight cited unnamed sources close to the show, claiming that Clooney will be back on the set this week shooting his scenes. Now that NBC agreed to add three more episodes, the last episode is scheduled to air Thursday night, April 2, after 14 years on the air.
Another report on RadarOnline.com revealed that the Clooney set, where the actor last time appeared as Dr. Doug Ross in 2000, is “so secret that only a few cast and crew members will be allowed on set and cell phones will be banned while director John Wells films the hush-hush Clooney swan-song scenes.”
The show's producer, John Wells, hinted earlier this month at a Television Critics Association panel that “we're going to have a lot of people coming back to ER at the conclusion of the series.”
“George is very busy [but] we’ve talked about it a couple times.” Reps for Clooney, who left the show in 1995 to pursue a career in feature films, have not confirmed the appearance.
Before that, executive producer David Zabel told EW exclusively last year that for the show's final season, they planned to revisit characters that have existed in the ER over the years and say where they are now. “We'd love to get them all back in some way, but that doesn't mean we're going to,” he said, “But we're gonna try.”
Anthony Edwards and Noah Wyle already appeared on the show while Eriq La Salle is slated to return.
