Good news all around: George Clooney is recovering well from his recent injuries and will not be cited in Friday’s motorcycle accident either. All is well that ends well.
Hollywood favorite George Clooney was in a bit of a motorcycle accident Friday, Sept. 21, as he and girlfriend Sarah Larson had a collision with a Mazda in New Jersey. While the stunt was not nearly as perfect as in the movies, the two were reportedly wearing helmets and suffered reasonably healable injuries.
The even better news is that Weehawken PD, which investigated the accident, announced Monday that the actor would not be held legally responsible for the crash.
Weehawken PD issued the following statement to TMZ about George Clooney's motorcycle accident:
“On Friday, Sept. 21, 2007 at approximately 3:30 PM, Weehawken police and the Weehawken Volunteer First Aid Squad responded to a 911 call of a motorcycle accident with possible injuries at the corner of King Avenue and Boulevard East.
“Investigation at the scene determined that a 1999 Mazda Millennium operated by Mr. Albert Sciancalepore II of Weehawken, NJ made contact with a 2007 Harley Davidson motorcycle operated by Mr. George Clooney of Los Angeles, California, [who] was accompanied by Ms. Sarah Larson of Las Vegas, Nevada.”
“Mr. Clooney and Ms. Larson were subsequently taken to Palisades Medical Center in North Bergen for examination and treatment of non-life threatening injuries,” the statement continues.
Indeed, George suffered a hairline rib fracture and road rash, while Sarah fractured her left foot. They were both released after a short while.
The grand finale of the statement reads: “Due to conflicting statements of driver and the lack of evidence to support either driver's version, no moving violation summonses have been issued to either party at this time. The incident remains under investigation.”
Both George and Sarah were present Monday night for the New York premiere of the actor’s new movie, “Michael Clayton.”
Sarah wobbled on crutches and hid a black eye behind makeup but smiled happily nevertheless. George was in a joking mood as usual and told People magazine that they were resting and that Sarah’s black eye looked like he had “socked” her a couple of times.
The Academy Award winning actor’s humor was as active as ever even Friday, after the accident, as he sent an e-mail to Access Hollywood’s Nancy O’Dell, saying, “All is fine ... not like giving birth.” (The co-host recently gave birth to her first child.)
George, 46, and Sarah, 28, a one-time “Fear Factor” winner, reportedly met earlier this summer and were at once smitten with each other. The two were together at the Venice Film Festival, earlier this month.
