Hollywood actor George Clooney and his girlfriend Sarah Larson are not getting married just yet, despite the mass of reports claiming otherwise.

"These reports are not true," the self-confessed marriage-shy actor was quoted as saying by People through his Los Angeles-based publicist, Stan Rosenfield.

The news started spreading after a report in Britain's Marie Claire titled "George Clooney to Marry" quoted a restaurant worker in Laglio, the Italian town where Clooney has a villa as saying the two got engaged.

"They haven't made any announcement yet, but there are people in this town who know more than me. They say the couple are already engaged," he reportedly said.

Clooney, 46, met Larson, 28, less than a year ago while she was working as a cocktail waitress at the Palm Casino Hotel in Las Vegas. Larson, who quit her job so she could travel with Clooney, is the first woman Clooney ever dated to walk the red carpet at the Oscars with him.

They were previously rumored to be engaged in December last year when they were spotted together at various events.

"It’s not often you get to mix with the likes of Matt Damon and Angelina Jolie - but Sarah has had that privilege and she’s loving every minute of it," a source said. "I think George has found someone he wants to really give it a go with."
