General Motors to Reveal New Super Car at Upcoming Auto Show

General Motors announced recently that it would reveal a new $100,000 super car with the occasion of the North American International Auto Show from January. Built on Chevrolet’s traditional muscle-car heritage, General Motors’ Corvette ZR1 will come with a super-charge 600-horsepower engine and will be one of the most powerful and most expansive cars that the popular company has ever sold.

So, after General Motors got itself involved in developing hybrids and promoting green-tech initiatives, the auto maker seems to have returned to the roots with Corvette ZR1. Although it features highly sophisticated modern technology, this new model represents the traditional super-car, as we all imagined it: a slim, though very powerful Batman car.

Corvette ZR1 is expected to be the highlight of next month’s show from Detroit, where other auto makers are also planning to expose several high-horsepower vehicles, such as Ferraris and Lamborghinis.

However, although General Motors’ Corvette ZR1 and its rivals will be tough enough to surprise everybody at the North American International Auto Show, the company recently admitted that the days of the powerful muscle cars may be numbered, taking into account the recent legal efforts to force auto makers into building more fuel-efficient cars.

So, although Corvette ZR1 may be “the last one of its species”, at least it is the most powerful and fastest production Chevrolet Corvette ever made.
