The Jordanian government and international aid organizations provided the Gaza Strip population with 400 tons of nourishment and medical aid.
Tens of trucks delivered the supplies on Thursday to the Gaza Strip, the Israel military said. The bulk of this aid was provided by the Jordanian government, while other international aid organizations contributed as well.
The International Red Cross said it had sent a surgeon and an anesthetist to Gaza, to help local hospitals which are currently treating over 500 people injured last week when Fatah and Hamas fought. Hamas has taken full control over the region.
The Israeli military said eight Palestinian patients were allowed into Israel Thursday where they will receive medical treatment. Earlier this week fourteen others received the same permission.
According to a statement from the International Red Cross, there are still many more patients who need to leave Gaza for medical treatment but are still waiting for permission.
The aid included flour, oil, rice, sugar, margarine, powdered milk, tea, pasta etc, as well as gasoline and fuel.
Gaza Strip residents received aid from UN agencies, like the World Food Programme, earlier this week. The United Nations has warned that there might be a food shortage in the near future if the commercials crossings into the strip are not opened.
