Gates Kids Not Allowed To Have an iPhone

It’s not easy being a Gates kid, especially since daddy is not exactly the biggest fan of world’s most popular phone at the moment: the iPhone. That goes on for the rest of the Apple devices apparently, which pretty much screams: once a Gates, never an Apple!

In an interview with Vogue Magazine published this week, the readers found out one not so shocking rules in the Gates family: iPods and iPhones are not allowed.

“There are very few things that are on the banned list in our household,” Melinda Gates said in the interview. “But iPods and iPhones are two things we don’t get for our kids,” she added. However, she did admit: “Every now and then I look at my friends and say, ‘Ooh, I wouldn’t mind having that iPhone.’”

But, there are more important things in life, and one of them (saving the world) takes most of their time lately. Bill Gates and his wife Melinda are now occupied with their foundation, which attempts to change the world as much as it can.

But that’s not all. The Gates are also known for trying to have their kids live a normal life, nothing extravagant. They go to parks, have playdates and sleep-overs, Melinda’s brother said in the interview. “There will be no bubble for them; these children will not turn out to be Paris Hilton.”

At the end of the day, their attitude proves to be not only healthy, but also useful for their kids’ development. After all, I haven’t seen any scientific proof yet that a normal childhood should involve having an iPhone or an iPod. Did you?
