Gary Coleman has pleaded no contest today to charges of disorderly conduct and reckless driving. The actor, best known for his "what'chu talkin' 'bout, Willis?" line, allegedly hit a man with his vehicle while leaving a bowling alley because he had snapped some photos of him. Both charges stemming from the incident that took place in Utah back in September are misdemeanors.
The “Diff'rent Strokes” star was ordered to pay $100 fine in a Payson court Tuesday for the first charge, while the judge expunged the second one with the condition that Coleman would behave himself for the upcoming year.
According to court documents, the actor, accompanied by his wife and their bodyguard, went bowling in Payson (approximately 60 miles south of Salt Lake City). When the three walked out of the bowling alley, Colt Rushton used his cell phone to snap a few photos of Coleman and his truck in the parking lot. From there it all went mayhem as Coleman’s 22-year-old wife, Shannon Price, took Rushton's cell phone causing a brawl which ended with Coleman running into Rushton with his truck while backing out of the parking lot.
“This wasn’t a situation of paparazzi or stalker-razzi, this was a fan snapping two photographs with a cell phone,” said the victim’s attorney, Dustin Lance, shortly after the aggressive actor had been charged.
Coleman, 40, was charged Wednesday, Sept. 17. He never spoke to police about the incident, but investigators gathered evidence after speaking to witnesses and 24-year-old Rushton.
Rushton sued Coleman seeking damages for medical bills, pain and suffering and punitive damages.
