Sunday night at the Spike Video Game Awards, Rockstar’s GTA IV was awarded best Game of The Year, after selling 2.5 million copies in its first week and 5.04 million units since its release. The numbers are record breaking and in terms of sales, GTA is by far the detached winner.
GTA IV has been one of the most awaited games of this year, and the final product proved the fans that the wait was worthwhile. GTA IV is amazing, as the world is bigger than ever and with a big world, endless possibilities come along. There is simply nothing you can’t do in this game, created around a sandbox world.
The storyline is also very well executed, it offers the player enough information to keep him hooked and interesting and it also allows for a lot of hours of gameplay.
The great thing about GTA is that when you get bored with the storyline mission, you can just go on a little rampage around the city. This is always fun and it is also helps to release stress. GTA IV had some very strong competitors this year, as it went against games like Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, Gears of War 2, Fable 2, Fallout 3 and Burnout Paradise.
Of course, some are not happy with the results of the awards, but it is very difficult to prove that Burnout Paradise is better than Fable 2, as the games deal with two completely different things
