Focus Features’ „Milk” received a nod in GLAAD's outstanding film in wide release category, where it will be running against Miramax's „Brideshead Revisited,” Columbia's „Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist,” Warner Bros.' „RocknRolla” and the Weinstein Co.'s „Vicky Cristina Barcelona.”
In the outstanding drama series category, GLAAD nominated ABC's „Brothers & Sisters,” Showtime's „The L Word,” The N's „South of Nowhere,” BBC America's „Torchwood” and HBO's „True Blood.”
The nods for comedy series went to ABC's „Desperate Housewives,” ABC Family's „Greek,” the CW's „Reaper,” BBC America's „Skins” and ABC's „Ugly Betty.”
The awards presented by GLAAD are aimed at paying tribute to media representations of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community in 26 English-language and 15 Spanish-language categories. The honors are scheduled to be awarded during a series of dinners, on March 28 at the Marriott Marquis in New York, April 18 at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles and May 9 at the Hilton San Francisco.
At the event to be held in New York, among the special honorees will be Tyra Banks, who will be getting the Excellence in Media Award and Suze Orman to be receiving the Vito Russo Award.
The stars who are set to be awarded during the San Francisco and the Los Angeles dinners have yet to be announced.
In addition, special recognition honors will be given to „The Laramie Project, 10 Years Later: The Lasting Legacy of Matthew Shepard,” which is a documentary broadcast on Sirius XM Radio, and to Lucia Mendez, an actress-singer who participated in a campaign aimed at raising awareness to teen suicide among members of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Community (LGBT).
