“Friday the 13th” – A Preposterously Bad Day… Or Film

The crew responsible for the most recent chapter of the “Friday the 13th” horror franchise opted for rebooting the series with a deferential tribute to the tradition moving around its legendary scoundrel, the taciturn, prowling slaughterer Jason Voorhees.

Helmed by Marcus Nispel (the mind behind the remake of “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre”), the production resembles a consommé of storylines and murdering notions from the franchise’s previous movies.

Following a brief opening lead up, viewers become acquainted to several teenagers with an uneasy sexual appetite who are trying to unearth a secret stash of weed not far from the Camp Crystal Lake. Obviously, they find no pot, but become high on Jason instead, as he makes an astonishing appearance.

Several weeks later, one of the kids’ brother decides o look for his missing sister and bumps into a group of college students who gather for the weekend at a fashionable lake house. Evidently, Jason arises.

The film may not exactly be a porn horror flick, but it does look pointlessly gruesome. While the original “Friday the 13th” pics suggested that they were a kind of fête celebrating teen desire and disorder, the reboot exposes the kids as the most repugnant idiots who are not able to control their raging hormones.

Although the movie sometimes tries to explain the Jason phenomenon, the character has nothing to do with reality: he does not feel pain, his favorite job is stalking and killing and he does no talking.

If you thought the original “Friday” films were bad, then you’ll think this one is preposterously bad. It’s not funny, it’s not fierce and it isn’t even daunting. It’s just bad.
