We don’t know whether his presidential candidacy will be of much help, but his acting skills will surely facilitate his way to our speakers, as Fred Thompson is getting his own radio program.
Westwood One announced on Monday that “The Fred Thompson Show” will premiere as early as March 2 and will take the place of “The Radio Factor With Bill O’Reilly,” which is scheduled to bring its six-year run to a standstill on February 27.
Bill O’Reilly made public his decision to leave the show earlier this month, explaining that he could not cope anymore with the tasks he had to achieve for his television and radio programs.
Fred Thompson is expected to host a straightforward show that will let him share his conservative beliefs and views on politics, newsworthy matters and analyze entertainment stories and reports. In addition, Fred Thompson will invite various guests on his upcoming show, serve as an interviewer and take listener calls in order to answer the questions of his viewers or just let them speak their mind.
The show will last for a couple of hours and will be broadcast live from the Westwood One studios in Washington on weekdays from noon to 2 p.m.
As an actor, Fred Thompson has made several appearances in numerous films and TV shows. In the final months of his U.S. Senate term in 2002, Fred Thompson joined the cast of NBC’s television series “Law & Order” so as to impersonate New York City District Attorney Arthur Branch. He was granted a request to be released from his contract in May 2007.
