Foxy Brown in Solitary Confinement

Rap diva Foxy Brown has been a bad inmate at Rikers Island, upsetting both guards and fellow prisoners, and has been given 11 weeks in solitary confinement.

Foxy Brown was sentenced to one year in jail in early October on charges of hitting a woman with her BlackBerry in July and repeatedly violating her probation. It seems that as soon as she entered jail and became Rikers Island Inmate #3470701776 (per TMZ.com) she started causing trouble.

E! Online reports that 27-year-old Foxy occupied herself with a shoving match with another prisoner on Oct. 3, according to spokesman for the New York City Department of Correction. While neither woman suffered any injuries, they had to be forcibly removed.

This little incident was no intimidation for Foxy who, you may remember, refused to board a prison bus some ten days ago and report for a court-scheduled meeting because her hair was not done.

Only one day after shoving the other prisoner, Foxy refused to take a mandatory drug test and was reportedly verbally abusive towards guards.

Her behavior has led the Department of Correction to review the situation, reports E! Online, and consequently order her temporary transfer from Rikers’ general population to “punitive segregation.”

This means Foxy, real name Inga Marchand, will be placed in isolation for up to 23 hours a day for 76 days. The remaining hour she can spend meeting with her attorney and other visitors, exercising or visiting the jail’s library.

The female prisoner she had the shoving match with has been sentenced to 11 days of solitary confinement.

Foxy’s temper has been getting her in trouble with the law consistently over the last couple of years. In 2004, she attacked two employees at a nail salon, apparently over the fee. At the time, she was sentenced to three years probation and anger management classes.

Earlier this year, the rapper threw hair glue at an employer in a beauty salon, thus violating her probation. She has allegedly failed to attend anger-management classes and added one more violent outburst to her file, when she threw her BlackBerry at a Brooklyn neighbor in July.

After that attack, she traveled out of the state without permission and lied about her identity when pulled over by police officers, making this the last drop that Manhattan Criminal Court Judge Melissa Jackson, in charge of her case, could stand.

Judge Jackson sentenced Foxy Brown to 1 year behind bars for probation violation. “Probation is a gift that is given to the defendant and I feel very strongly that I gave her the chance to do what she wanted with her life,” the judge said upon announcing her decision.
