On Friday, hundreds of Taliban militants overran a district town in southern Afghanistan after four police officers died in an explosion which took place in the same area, officials informed.
According to Mohibullah Khepilwak, the district administrative chief, the Taliban fighters captured Nawah district in central Afghanistan's Ghazni province, after the police officers left the region.
Police and government workers have evacuated from the area early today because they were in deficient in of “essential supplies," the official said.
Thursday late afternoon, four policemen have passed away and five others were injured in Gerishk district in Helmand Province, Southern Afghanistan, the provincial police chief Mohammad Hussain Andewal reported. He added that police members were guarding the region when the attack occurred.
In line with a statement posted on the rebel website, the attackers admitted they were guilty of the happening.
A month ago, Ghazni Governor Muhammad Osman Osmani notified people that Taliban millitants had gathered in Ghazni province and attempted to use the place as the vanguard.
