A Fort Lewis
soldier shot dead a married couple- both fellow soldiers- and kidnapped the
couple’s six-month old daughter, a prosecutor stated on Monday.
After killing the two people, the
22-year old Spc. Ivette Gonzales Davila bought muriatic acid to throw on the
bodies for the purpose of disposing of them.
She was detained in the Pierce
County Jail on Sunday night and is now investigated for aggravated first-degree
murder and kidnapping. Davila, a specialist in the I Corps and a member of the
Fort Lewis color guard is due to be charged Wednesday for the two killings. She
has not served in Iraq.
According to a statement released
by the prosecutors, Davila killed Randi Miller, 25, and her husband, Timothy
Miller, 27, on Saturday as she believed Randi and Davila’s ex-boyfriend were
having an affair.
Then she took the 6-month-old
baby to her barracks. Davila asked a soldier to help her carry some baby items
from the car, as she was baby-sitting. Later, Davila told the soldier that she
“had killed the baby’s parents the night before,” according to the
declaration.
The baby was not harmed and is
now in the custody of Child Protective Services. Timothy Miller’s family is
expected to take care of her.
The declaration also describes
how Davila came to the couple’s home carrying a gun, shot Randi Miller as she
was lying in bed, and then shot Timothy Miller who was taking a shower, the
Seattle Times informs.
Then she went to a Home Depot and
bought some muriatic acid. She then allegedly returned to the Millers’ home,
put Randi Miller’s body in the bathtub along with her husband’s, and poured the
acid over their bodies.
According to the court documents,
military police have found the murder weapon, the receipt for muriatic acid and
Randi Miller’s purse in Davila’s barracks at Fort Lewis.
