Ed McMahon has some legal troubles. According to the
Associated Press, the former television star is sued for not paying the lawyers
who handled his daughter's divorce. The lawsuit filed Wednesday in Manhattan federal court
claims that Ed McMahon and his wife hired a law firm to represent their
daughter Linda Schmerge in her divorce.
Apparently McMahon owes Hartman & Craven and the Sarcone
Law Firm more than $275,000. Ed McMahon’s attorney didn’t comment on the
situation.
Ed McMahon, 85, didn’t pay Norman Solovay, the divorce
attorney. According to the lawsuit, he has to pay the lawyer $275,168. Solovay
was hired by McMahon and wife Pamela to represent their daughter Linda
Schmerge, who is from another relationship, in a “matrimonial matter,” said
Michael Shanker, Norman Solovay’s lawyer, reported Reuters.
Ed McMahon is famous for introducing Johnny Carson for 30
years, using his well-known line “Heeeeeeeere’s Johnny” and also for being the
host of the popular TV talent show “Star Search” in the 80’s and 90’s. The
former TV star’s financial problems became known last month when he revealed
that he was fighting foreclosure because he didn’t manage to pay in time the
mortgage payments on his home from Beverly
Hills, California. He
fell $644,000 behind on mortgage payments.
Unfortunately, the bad news doesn’t end here, as Ed McMahon
faces a lawsuit by Citibank, which claims that the former “Tonight Show”
sidekick has to give back nearly $200,000. On the other hand, McMahon sued a
hospital, two doctors and a homeowner over a neck injury that made him unable
to work. He claims that the doctors didn’t take an X-ray and they failed to
diagnose his broken neck.
ED McMahon’s publicist didn’t comment on the subject.
“We reserve comment until we've had the chance to review the
documents, which we haven't been served with yet,” publicist Howard Bragman,
according to Reuters.
