Forget The Elections! Will Palin Join Fey On SNL? |

As if the post-SNL media craze is not enough, with millions of views of Tina Fey’s “spot on” impersonation of Sarah Palin and thousands of comments on the matter, the world now stays still, while nervously waiting for that special moment when the GOP vice-presidential candidate will step on the Saturday Night Live set and face her biggest fear.
Word is that Palin’s ratings go way down after each and every appearance of the “30 Rock” creator, writer and star, wearing those square glasses and highlighted bangs, as well as that hilarious accent she does so well.
So why not a reunion? Of course, Tina is not a fan of the Alaska Governor, as well as Palin is obviously not flattered by the attention, despite her statements. Palin told reporters on Tuesday she'd love to appear on the show with Fey. "I love her, she's a hoot and she's so talented," she said "It would be fun to meet her, imitate her and keep on giving her new material."
That would be a really bold move and would probably make Palin look as if she has a good sense of humor, but will she be able to stand up to a woman who clearly doesn’t want her anywhere near the White House?
The former SNL comedian, who now comes only as a special guest to the show, has made several public statements where she says she doesn’t want to play the Republican candidate for much longer. “I want to be done playing this lady Nov. 5,” she said, making it clear that until then, the comedic bits featuring the Alaska Governor will be more ruthless, thus funnier than before.
Fey managed to crack everybody up with her brilliant impersonation, ever since that first skit on SNL season premiere. She then appeared along with a visibly annoyed and frustrated Hillary Clinton, played by Amy Poehler. Palin claimed she only watched the skit on mute, but really actually enjoyed it.
Afterwards, the SNL covered another two events, this time not fictional, mimicking an interview Palin gave to Katie Couric of CBS News, with Poehler playing the newswoman and Fey, of course, the Governor.
It was all about foreign policies and how experienced is Palin with those, considering her state is so close to Russia. Funny thing, though scary, is that the sketch kept a lot of the original statements in the interview. In fact, the transcripts are so funny, they’re better than any fictional material any writer could come up with.
The SNL skit shows how Palin manages to avoid tough questions by rephrasing them in her own advantage and how she becomes “increasingly adorable” as she loses her way through the answers. At one point, completely surprised by Couric’s question, in Poehler’s interpretation, Sarah says: "Katie, I'd like to use one of my lifelines. ... I want to phone a friend." But as she was explained there is no way of getting out of this one with a lifeline, Fey blinked and smilingly said: "Well, in that case, I'm just gonna have to get back to ya."
Last week we enjoyed an even funnier twist on the vice-presidential debate, between Gov. Palin and Democratic candidate Sen. Joseph Biden of Delaware, along with SNL regular Jason Sudeikis as Biden and guest star Queen Latifah as debate moderator Gwen Ifill, of PBS.
The skit evolved around Sarah Palin’s memorable words of wisdom, about how she and John McCain are mavericks. Fey took that and turned it into a more explicit statement:” You know, John McCain and I, we're a couple of mavericks. And gosh darnit, we're gonna take that maverick energy right to Washington and we're gonna use it to fix this financial crisis and everything else that's plaguin' this great country of ours."
