Ford Presents Its New Taurus SHO

Today, during the Chicago Auto Show, Ford Motor Co. will present its new 365-horsepower Taurus SHO, as the company is looking to revive the muscle car demand across the country.

"It's all about listening to customers and delivering what they want," said Mark Fields, Ford's president for the Americas, referring to the massive demand for the car during the ten years of manufacturing (1989 - 1999).

The vehicle is expected to be available in the second part of the year, at a starting price of $37,995, which is $12,000 more than the base-level version. It will feature a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter direct- injection V6 engine able to generate 300 foot-pounds of torque, a six speed transmission and paddle shifters on the steering wheel, and an all-wheel-drive powertrain.

The main difference will be under the hood, as the exterior changes will be rather subtle. This is actually the car’s main appeal, as it tends to surprise through its excellent performances, even though at first sight it appears to be just a regular car. On the outside, the new version received only a chrome dual exhaust, a unique three-bar grille and a decklid spoiler. The interior will feature leather seats, aluminum trim, aluminum-trimmed pedals and numerous SHO logos. Other standard features include Keyless start and the company’s SYNC voice control system for phone and stereo.

The company also provides a wide range of options, which include navigation, massaging seats, radar cruise control, a reverse camera, a blind-spot monitoring system, and an upgraded Sony sound system.
