Forbes magazine released another of its fascinating lists Thursday, naming Oprah Winfrey, Tiger Woods and Madonna.
Making the Celebrity 100 Power List was no easy feat this year, as earnings alone would not grant a celebrity a top position. Forbes factored in additional variables such as influence, television and magazine cover appearances, internet hits and annual earnings.
Media mogul Oprah Winfrey, who is a legendary television show host, runs several publications and occasionally acts, was listed as the world’s most powerful celebrity. She earned an astounding $260 million over the past year.
Second to Oprah was golfing professional Tiger Woods, with an income of $100,000. Chameleonic entertainer Madonna was third, with $72 million.
The Rolling Stones, comprised of Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Ron Wood and Charlie Watts, followed in fourth place, with $88 million. The ‘60s rock group has broken records with their ongoing A Bigger Bang world tour, which has earned overwhelming amounts of money.
Actor Brad Pitt, though earning $35 million, a modest sum when compared with other earners on the list, ranked the fifth most powerful. Pitt has been an undisputable media magnet over the past couple of years, due to his relationship with Angelina Jolie, fatherhood to a growing brood of little ones, as well as involvement in humanitarian causes.
Johnny Depp, who will perhaps forever be remembered as Captain Jack Sparrow, earned more money in one year than almost any other actor ever ($92 million), according to Forbes, was sixth on the power list.
The remaining four places on the top ten most influential celebrities on planet Earth as comprised by Forbes were British legend Elton John, Hollywood actor Tom Cruise, hip hop mogul Jay-Z and producer Steven Spielberg.
