"Foot Fist Way," which is the actual translation of Tae Kwon Do, is a very-low-budget flick by director Jody Hill, shot over 19 days in North Carolina and debuted two years ago at the Sundance Film Festival. The movie follows a clueless idiotic Take Kwon Do instructor at a small town strip mall dojo, played by Danny McBride.
Violent and angry with his slutty wife, Fred Simmons tortures his students verbally and physically. His students quickly begin giving up on their delusional master. Simmons eventually finds out that his wife, Suzie (Mary Jane Bostic) is cheating him with his idol, movie star Chuck "the Truck" Wallace (Ben Best).
All hell breaks loose but in the end Fred Simmons supposedly grows up, overcoming his earlier problems. When it appeared that he had hit rock bottom and everybody basically gave up on him, the delusional instructor rises from his own ashes and continued to believe his ideals, no matter how childish they might be.
Overall, the delusional idiocy which characterizes Simmons is funny, if one disregards one or two scenes which are too over the top. The odd movie succeeds at being striking and somewhat original in a profane way. Six out of ten.
