A woman in Florida chose prison instead of paying $7.45 for her breakfast at a central restaurant, TCPalm.com reports.

On Saturday, Maryanne O’Neill, 66, entered Fort Pierce Waffle House restaurant and ordered coffee and a sandwich. After finishing her breakfast, she simply refused to pay the money. Consequently, the restaurant called the police to report the unusual incident.

When the police arrived, O’Neal was asked to pay the money or else she would go to prison. Evidently, the second variant did not scare the women at all since she chose the bars over paying the money.

“O'Neill said she was not going to pay for her food. I asked O'Neill again to pay for her food and she plain refused to,” the police report said, according to TCPalm.com.

No reasons were given for which the women refused to pay the bill, since it was infinitesimal.

The woman was escorted to St. Lucie County Jail but she was released two days later. However, she was charged with obtaining food or lodging with intent to defraud, a second-degree misdemeanor. . If convicted of a second-degree misdemeanor she could face up to 60 days in jail and a fine of $500.
