Despite reports claiming the Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist’s house burned down by the Malibu fires, Michael Balzary, a.k.a. Flea did not lose his house, TMZ.com reported.
Early reports confirmed that Flea’s house was “burnt to a crisp” on Saturday and that he was not at home when it happened, but according to his manager none of these happened.
The 45-year-old musician’s house, which was reportedly destroyed by the fire, was located in the hills west of Corral Canyon, Los Angeles Times reported. The French country-style home is listed for sale for $4.8 million on the website of real estate firm Pritchett-Rapf & Associates.
About 15,000 people left their homes as the fires swept through Malibu, including a handful of celebrities who owned properties in the area. British actress Minnie Driver, 37, and film hunk Matthew McConaughey, 38, were both spotted fleeing their houses. Other homes, including those of Britney Spears, Jim Carrey, Sting, Pierce Brosnan, Courteney Cox and Bill Murray are threatened, while more than 35 mansions went up in smoke.
According to officials, six firefighters have been injured in the 2,000 acre blaze which destroyed over 4,500 acres of land. Los Angeles Country Fire Inspector Ron Haralson confirmed that the blaze is now under control as weather conditions have changed.
“Winds have subsided considerably and we’re making good headway,” he said.
