Police informed that two Picasso etchings worth almost half
a million dollars were stolen from an art gallery this morning. This happened
in Palm Beach
and the thieves have not been identified yet.
According to The Associated Press, the alarm from Gallery
Biba went out at 3:40 a.m Thursday. Janet Kinsella, Palm Beach police spokeswoman said that that
someone broke through the back door and took two etchings.
One is worth $150,000 and the other one $300,000. Authorities
said that they haven’t found out yet what the etchings depicted and they were
still searching for the titles of the two works.
Although the gallery contained painting more valuable that
these two works, the person who stole them had set eyes on them.
“Some paintings in there are worth more than that,” Dawson said, Orlando
Sentinel reported.
Sgt. Mike Dawson said that, in order to get to the door,
somebody would have had to get passed through a 6-foot wooden fence. He also
said that police arrived at the gallery 20 seconds after the alarm company made
the call
Gallery Biba is a gallery which specializes in artworks by
modern and contemporary artists.
