The App Store is getting a few more iPhone, iPod apps today, with the offering from Interscope Geffen A&M, a division of Universal Music. According to the announcement, the Kyte-powered apps have already been released, and they are available for free.
The apps include IGA artists The All American Rejects, Keri Hilson, Lady Gaga, The Pussycat Dolls, and Soulja Boy Tell ‘Em, and aim at connecting fans with their favorite artists, through video content, custom branding, mobile advertising, m-commerce links, RSS reader for latest news and updates, and interactive user engagement features.
The applications already smell like success, especially since they seem to start on a good note: they’re free. In addition to that, having an iPhone or an iPod is all about personalizing it, and the Kyte-powered apps do just that.
Kyte is a media platform that provides an end-to-end, online and mobile solution for the production, distribution and monetization of digital content. Interscope was the first to launch Kyte-powered apps, but others are likely to follow.
Daniel Graf, Kyle CEO, said in a statement: IGA artists are using Kyte to produce authentic, raw video content every day, which keeps fans coming back again and again to see what’s new and interact with each other. Bringing this experience to iPhone and iPod Touch is a powerful, cost-effective way for companies to converge their online and mobile audiences into a single community.
Kyle’s initiative is nothing new, but it’s certainly something to look at. And users should enjoy these free apps now, since there is no guarantee other apps coming out in the future will be free as well.
