As expected, American Idol welcomed Danny Gokie, Alexis Grace and Michael Sarva as the first three members of the coveted Top 12. This means that the other nine members of the semifinals' first performance group, Jackie Tohn, Ricky Braddy, Brent Keith, Stevie Wright, Anoop Desai, Casey Carlson, Ann Marie Boskovich, Stephen Fowler, and Tatiana Nicole Del Toro, will now have to hope they will get to perform in the special "Wild Card Round" in which American Idol's judges will determine the final three members of the season's Top 12.

American Idol host Ryan Seacrest revealed each semifinalist's fate during an hour-long results show that also included a Group 1 semifinalists group performance of "I'm Yours" and a duet of "The Letter" by Idol seventh-season alums Michael Johns and Carly Smithson.

Alexis Grace was especially great according to the general opinion. In fact, Alexis sounded even better after learning she'd been voted through on Wednesday's broadcast when she took a second crack at the Aretha Franklin song she'd nailed the night before, "I Never Loved a Man (The Way I Love You)."

As a conclusion I’d like to point out the fact that at the end when Danny Gokey was picked to go on, I found myself hoping, as much as she irritates me, that Tatiana would be sent on through also. Anyone can tell that she loves to sing, and is proud of how well she can sing, and she took one of the hardest songs ever to sing which is 'Loving You' by Minnie Ripperton.

Yes, Tatiana is obnoxious, annoying, and combines the worst parts of every bad contestant who's ever appeared on the show, but, as it stands right now, Idol's 2009 top twelve contains three alright singers and not one likable, or even dislikable, personality.

According to Seacrest, over 24 million home-viewer votes were cast after Tuesday night's broadcast; that’s almost 10 million more votes than last year's first seventh-season semifinals performance show.
