Whitney Thompson has proven not only skinny girls are
beautiful. Even though there have been times when she compared herself with
skinnier girls, the plus-sized model won the latest season of “America’s Next
Top Model.”
"There's definitely times I've looked in the mirror and
looked at other girls and thought, I wasn't like them," said Thompson,
after finding out she beat out the other finalist of the contest, Anya Kop.
Thompson said she felt very proud for having been able to
make a statement and she hoped that her victory would help American women feel
more confident about their bodies.
It's amazing to be America's Next Top Model. This is exactly
what I want. This is what I've always wanted!" she enthusiastically
exclaimed.
As prize, Thompson will get a cover and a six-page spread in
Seventeen magazine, a $100,000 contract with CoverGirl cosmetics and
representation from Elite Model Managament.
Thompson expressed to People magazine her intention to be a
role model for young girls, including her 13-year-old cousins who complained
they were too fat. “They’re too young to think like that,” Thompson said. She
also confessed that one of her best friends was not very supportive when she
left for the show, telling Thompson she was fat and she wasn’t going to go too
far in the competition. “In your face!” Thompson said she was thinking every
week when she remembered her former friend’s words.
The sexy model, who is a size 8 to 10, said she already had
many fans across the world, who showed their support through mails in which
they expressed their admiration and care.
