Mozilla aims for more than just
a good Firefox 3.0, it aims for a Guinness World Record, all of course with the
users’ help. With the motto “Set a Guinness World Record, Enjoy a Better Web,”
Mozilla started a campaign with one clear mission: to become the most
downloaded software in 24 hours.
As it appears, the classic
competition between browsers turned into something fun. All users have to do is
start downloading Mozilla Firefox 3.0 during the Download Day (which is still a
mystery for now, but at least users will get the feeling they’re part of something
great).
So far, Firefox seems to be
gaining more adepts every month, and even though Internet Explorer is still
ahead, there’s no doubt about it that Firefox is willing to catch up as quickly
as possible. And while they do that, making their 3.0 debut fun is probably
what every campaign lacks.
With Firefox 3.0 in its testing
phase, an probably a couple of months before the launch, its developers are
asking users to “spread the word” and set a Guinness World Record, an
opportunity that many will probably miss.
What you should know is that for the time being, there isn’t actually a record for the most downloaded software in 24
hours, so why not set one now? If you want to pledge, and tell others to do the
same, you can visit this website and join
thousands of users who’ve already pledged to give a helping hand.
