The famous rapper Kanye West will not face felony charges
for his arrest at the Los Angeles
International Airport
earlier this month. According to the Los
Angeles District Attorney’s Office decided to not
press felony charges against Kanye West. However, the Los Angeles City Attorney's
Office will review the case for misdemeanor charges. City Attorney spokesman
Frank Mateljan said that a decision isn't expected until next week.
Kanye West was arrested on September 11, at Los Angeles International Airport
after causing damage to camera equipment and getting into an altercation with a
photographer. His bodyguard, who is also his road manager at LAX Don Crowley
was also taken into custody after smashing a television camera.
They were released several hours later on a $20,000 bail
from the Los Angeles Police Department's Pacific Division.
At the time, spokeswoman for the Los Angeles District
Attorney's office Jane Robison stated that the men were arrested outside the passenger
security screening area, where the scuffle with the paparazzi took place. The
video equipment that was destroyed is said to have been worth $10,000.
In a message posted on the rapper’s blog, Kanye West told
his fans that he was cool with the paparazzi, but that the lensman involved in
the conflict was not so cool, this being the reason for the altercation.
