The first-class Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic - the young Serbian who so badly wants to breathe the same air as the great one - will be in the U.S. Open men's final today.
Federer seeks to improve his record by winning a fourth consecutive U.S. Open title, while Djokovic looks forward to wining his first-ever Grand Slam title in his first-ever final.
"I think I'm ready, and I need to be ready. I need to believe in myself, because otherwise I wouldn't get the positive outcome," Djokovic said.
The Swiss was rarely tested on his road to the final act. In the semifinal against No. 4 seed Nikolay Davydenko, Federer hardly broke a sweat as he broke his adversary four straight times before dropping in four big first serves and winning the match 7-5, 6-1, 7-5. Federer lost his serve just twice in five matches and he allowed just nine break points.
The 20-year-old Djokovic is the youngest men's semifinalist since Pete Sampras in 1990 after he won 6-4, 6-4, 6-3 over David Ferrer in the other semifinal encounter.
Djokovic is one of only four players that can brag about beating Federer this year. He won the Montreal tournament, recording victories over Andy Roddick, Rafael Nadal and Federer.
It will be the sixth clash between the two in the last two years, with Federer holding a 4-1 winning advantage.
