February, the American Heart Month

The American Heart Month runs into others celebrations, such as Valentine’s Day but even if many Americans joyfully celebrate love every February, they are also concerned about the big percentage that heart diseases have in their lives. The American people have always been keen on the public health awareness because they strongly believe that health knowledge plays an important role in saving lives.

The Congress is asked every year that February should represent the American Heart Month. During this month many American volunteers spend their time by delivering all kinds of information about cardiovascular diseases and raise funds for the various researches made on heart diseases and various heart conditions.

The annual proclamation for the American Heart Month must be signed by the Congress every year and this whole information spreading about heart diseases has been performed since 1963. The American Heart Association stated that cardiovascular diseases are the main death cause of the nation.
According to the same association, the coronary heart disease is the leading cause of death in the United States. Strokes are another central reason for so many deaths in the nation so the American Heart Association’s main role is to deliver as much information about these kinds of diseases as to stop them from killing so many people.

The most important factors which lead to heart diseases and strokes are obesity, smoking, bad food and the lack of physical exercise. During this awareness months, the ones who find themselves into such situations can call the representatives of the American Heart Association and ask for information or help.

The association believes that this month strongly proves the kind of relationship between the public and the government. As long as the volunteers from the American Heart Association raise funds to improve the health care programs, the legislators must improve the public health too, by giving money for medical researches or healthcare programs.
