Hoping to pick up a lead or any information regarding the case of a 5-year-old missing girl, the family of Haleigh Cummings on Thursday released personal photos and a home video of the child opening Christmas presents.
Channel 4 obtained a video of Haleigh Cummings, who has been missing for 16 days, from her mother, Crystal Sheffield. Shot on Christmas morning at the Sheffield’s home, the video shows the girl and her younger brother, whose face has been obscured at the request of the family, while they’re opening Christmas presents.
So far, only still photos of the little girl have been released, so the Sheffields are hopeful the video may better help someone recognize their daughter, who was reported missing from her father's Satsuma mobile home on February 10, or see something in the video that provides more clues to investigators.
As the search for the girl continues, Haleigh’s baby brother, who was in bed next to her the night she disappeared, told his mother that “somebody in black took her.”
“He said he was all dressed in black, but I didn't question him. I'm not going to question him,” said Crystal Sheffield. Child psychologists already questioned the 4-year-old boy, and found his story unreliable.
Meanwhile, the reward for information on Haleigh's whereabouts increased Tuesday to $25,500. Investigators are currently going through over 1,600 leads in the case. No trace of the girl has been found yet but Putnam County detectives remain on the case full time, while the FBI and Florida Department of Law Enforcement also have agents working to find Haleigh.
