The fake doctor who performed cosmetic procedures on two women’s buttocks causing them critical injuries turned herself in to the Hillsborough County Sherriff’s Office Wednesday, according to reports.
Sharhonda Lindsay, 32, of Thonotosassa, was charged with two felony counts practicing medicine without a license. She is accused of injecting Andrea Lee, 30, and her friend Zakiya Teagle, 33, with a silicone substance called hydrogel and a saline solution for “cosmetic enhancements.” The first received 40 shots with hydrogel within a 90-minute period while the second 20 shots in the same amount of time. They paid $750 for the procedures.
Within hours after the procedures, both women began feeling sick and they were rushed to Town & Country Hospital for internal injuries. Lee suffered total kidney failure and she is struggling for her life. Her friend, Teagle is also in critical condition after suffering liver failure.
“It almost is bootleg cosmetology here. These two victims knew of this woman, at least one of them did. They knew that she was known to have given injections to other women to enhance the buttocks area,” said sheriff's office spokesman J.D. Callaway.
He also added that Lindsay might have done the same procedures on other women but “we’re not aware of these other women experiencing these medical problems like these two women did.”
Lindsay was released on $5,000 bond.
