To anyone, who managed to watch at least one episode of Denise
Richards' reality show, it comes as no surprise that "Denise Richards:
It's Complicated" was summarily dismissed, as rumored over the past couple
of months.
Poor Denise Richards. Her complicated life, culminating with
her disastrous marriage to Charlie Sheen, wasn't interesting enough to keep people
watching. After failing to meet expectations on the long run, her show, which
started out "pretty good" at 1.5 million viewers, was kicked to the
curb. The series followed Richards juggling the demands of being a single mom,
an actress and a newbie on the dating scene since her high-profile divorce.
The viewers seem to have had it with a lot Richards’ nasty behavior,
which they found offensive, including her constant (severe) cursing around her
young daughters, the keeping of far too many pets in her home, and her accusing
ex-husband Charlie Sheen of molesting their daughters, a charge that was seen
as a last-ditch attempt at television ratings.
"The numbers started out pretty good - just over 1.5
million tuned in for the premiere episode," a source told the New York
Post. "But the audience has dropped off."
And it wasn't just the audience, Denise was harshly
criticized by viewers over her potty-mouthed ways around her children, Sam and
Lola, as well as their appearances on the show, which were hotly contested by
ex-husband Charlie Sheen in court last year. Not that long ago, Denise talked
about her young daughters being in therapy. Her kids do look, almost always,
completely miserable in the pictures taken of the two. Maybe people are finally
getting bored by the ongoing confrontation between Richards and Sheen.
"Viewers were disgusted that a mother of two young
girls would use such foul language," the source added. Along with her
long-running custody battles with Sheen, other bad showings included Denise
confronting an editor over her tabloid image and having a seemingly forced fun
girls’ night out.
Still, immediately after Tuesday's report in the New York
Post, a source at the network told Access Hollywood that, "The show hasn’t
been canceled and decisions are still being made regarding a second
season."
According to the network, the premiere episode of "It’s
Complicated" was the third most watched premiere in network history, and
has averaged over 1 million total viewers for each new episode the rest of the
season.
"The show actually does well for us," the source
added. Most recently, Denise was also optimistic about the show's future
telling Access at a Clothes Off Our Backs charity event that she's "having
great conversations about season two."
In the meantime, Richards' ex-hubby and his wife, Brooke
Mueller, who got married in May, "couldn't be more excited" at the
prospect of welcoming a new member to their family.
"Brooke informed me two days ago that very soon we'd be
producing our own version of 'Two-and-a-Half Men.'
"That would imply it's a boy, so until we know, we'll
refer to it as 'Two-and-a-Half People.' We're beyond happy to be new parents
together."
