Facebook and ConnectU Reportedly On The Verge Of A Settlement

Facebook is not very talkative on the legal dispute with ConnectU (neither are they), but is looks like there’s a settlement on the way, sources familiar with the talks said, according to the New York Times. The exact terms of the settlement still remain unclear, as none of the parts involved wished to comment on the speculations.

What led to the long dispute between the two? ConnectU founders Tyler Winklevoss, Cameron Winklevoss and Divya Narendra filed a suit accusing Zuckerberg of using their ideas to create his own website, but Facebook answered by accusing ConnectU of unfair business practices.

As it appears, the three hired Zuckerberg to help create a dating site, but Zuckerberg allegedly compromised their project to create his own site, which later brought him an estimated $1 billion.

The case against Facebook didn’t exactly put ConnectU on a strong position, especially considering that just a few months after they filed the suit last year, a federal judge said there was not enough evidence to support the allegations against the Facebook creator.

An anonymous source told the New York Times that the settlement is not completed yet, but it will most probably be within the next few weeks.

Facebook is a social-networking site that has managed to gain over 69 million users worldwide since it was launched in 2004, and Mark Zuckerberg, the founder of the Facebook, is among the world’s youngest billionaires.

It hasn’t been an easy road for Facebook, as both ConnectU and houseSYSTEM say Zuckerberg took his ideas from them, and a privacy problem put Facebook in a shadow cone. But things appear to come together now, as they are reportedly about to set the record clean, at least with ConnectU.
