Facebook Extends To Third-Party Sites

Facebook is one of the most popular, best known social networking sites around and after the site has developed apps for different smart phones it was about time the whole thing went Live. Facebook announced at a developers conference that it would make Facebook information become available on other third-party sites, allowing its users to log in more easily and share with many more people their Facebook accounts.

The new service is called Facebook Connect and it focuses on users signing in to participating sites with their Facebook ID, which is usually associated with their real name. The Facebook Connect service is available starting from today, meaning that Facebook users can now share their pictures and experiences with so many more.

Taking the problem to another level, we might say that a social networking site’s ultimate goal is to bring together as many people as possible, and through Facebook Connect this would certainly happen. The question is if anyone has thought about the possible disadvantages this new Facebook feature will bring. There are sites where one may not want its personal information to appear available to others, there are sites and moments when we don’t want to share, and keep everything to ourselves.

All in all, of this is for a general good of being able to have an almost universal signing in profile, making surfing on the net so much easier. Similar attempts have been tried by Google, signing in to Blogger is being done using a Gmail account, MySpace and, even, Yahoo.
