The New York
premiere of “Sex and the City” was absolutely “fabulous.”
Although the weather was a little bit crazy Tuesday night,
many fans showed up at Radio City Music Hall
in Manhattan.
The actors of the movie were also present.
Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, Kristin Davis, Kim
Cattrall, Chris Noth, David Eigenberg and Jason Lewis were very excited as
well.
The movie comes after the successful HBO series which ended
three years ago. People were beginning to miss the four ladies. It was bound
for this movie to be made.
We were all wondering if Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker) was
still with Mr. Big (Chris Noth), if Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) was handling the
mom-wife-lawyer job, if Charlotte, (Kristen Davis) the optimist, was happy with
her family and if Samantha (Kim Cattrall) was spending her nights with the same
good-looking Hollywood actor.
Asked about the movie, Sarah Jessica Parker said that this
was “one of the great nights of my professional career,” reported USA Today.
She was accompanied by her husband Matthew Broderick and about 26 family
members.
Kim Catrall said that she didn’t want to see the movie when
it had been released in the U.K.,
because she wanted “to be home” to see it. Kristin Davis was a little bit
concerned about the weather but she remembered that New Yorkers were very
strong and they could “take anything,” reported USA Today.
As for Cynthia Nixon, she was very relieved about the
premiere because it had been really hard for her not to give away movie details.
They were all wearing beautiful dresses: Parker had a Nina
Ricci gown, Cattrall was wearing a Vivienne Westwood dress, Davis had a gold Donna Karan dress and Nixon
was dressed in white Narciso Rodriguez gown.
The movie is 142 minutes long and it describes the difficulties that our four heroines have to go through. I think that one of the great qualities of this movie is its ability to be a little bit superfluous and to bring a breath of fresh air on the screen and also to picture real situations.
The movie finds successful Carrie and Mr. Big together and
heading towards marriage, Miranda is still with Steve but they don’t look so
happy, Charlotte has to figure out how to be a good mom and Samantha is in L.A
with Smith, figuring out how to have a monogamous relation.
And, of course the clothes are just perfect. It’s like a
true fashion show.
We can also see Jennifer Hudson in the film, as she is
playing Carrie’s assistant.
I’m sure that everyone will like the movie. And, moreover,
I think men will also like “Sex and the City” and, for once, they would
actually enjoy to follow their girlfriends to a, so- called, “chick” movie
because it’s not a chick movie. The situations are very realistic, the
characters are easy to relate to, the clothes and shoes are fabulous and the
actors are really good.
So, let’s buy some popcorn and hit the movie theaters.
