Fans of FOX’ hit TV show "Prison Break" are in for quite a juicy treat, if recent reports are true.
Following the success of "Prison Break," currently in its third season, FOX is reportedly developing a spin-off of the series, tentatively named "Prison Break: Cherry Hill" set to take place in a women’s penitentiary.
After axing the two previous leading female characters, Veronica Donovan (played by Robin Tunney) and Dr. Sara Tancredi (Sarah Wayne Callies), the next one might get her own series.
The spin-off will be focusing on a female character named Molly, who will be introduced in the upcoming episodes of "Prison Break’s" third season while FOX has already ordered a script which will be written by "Prison Break" executive producer Matt Olmstead and co-exec producer Zack Estrin, The Hollywood Reporter wrote.
According to E!Online, the producers of "Prison Break" have been trying to cast the role for several weeks but, with shooting on her episodes rapidly approaching, an actress still hasn't been found.
Described as an upper-middle-class wife, Molly will become an ally of Michael Scofield (Wentworth Miller) as he attempts to escape from Panama's deadly Sona prison.
"There is an ironic similarity between Molly and Michael -- they're both emotionally banged-up, both have lost loved ones, and both want the people responsible to pay -- so they empathize with each other," Olmstead said.
"Cherry Hill" will find Molly fully coping with the life sentence for her acts of revenge up to the moment when she finds out some of her loved ones are still alive.
"In a moment's time, she is transformed from an unapologetic murderer to a motivated woman who would do anything to get out of prison and be with them," Olmstead added.
